The Buenos Aires German Hospital opened in 1867 and has developed into one of the best hospitals in Argentina.  It is a non-profit association and the Board of Directors is still composed of leading members of the German community.

It is associated to the University of Buenos Aires, Teaching and Research Department and offers all specialities in a single centre.  Established in a favoured area of the city and opening on to gardens, the hospital attracts renowned medical professional and both national and international patients.

Specialist expertise
The German Hospital highlights the following specialities in particular
Transplant operations for adults and children, including bone marrow, liver (including live donor transplant), kidney, liver and kidney, liver and heart, liver and intestine and associated services.
High complexity surgery.    The German Hospital has created the first Centre for Inflammatory Diseases in Argentina, where  150 patients per year are treated for Crohn's Disease and 250 for ulcerous colitis. Approximately 20 to 30 ileal pouches are annually performed by laparoscopy.
Other areas include thoracic and cardiovascular surgery, hepato pancreato biliary surgery and morbid obesity surgery.
Burns including specialised operating table for burns patients and centre for burn sequels, aesthetic and/or functional.  Techniques such as skin substitutes, skin culture, artificial skin and the hospital's own skin bank are employed, along with an interdisciplinary rehabilitation centre.
